Does natural skincare really work?

Interesting question! If by “work” we mean, “is natural skincare as effective as synthetic skincare?”, then absolutely. Plant-derived ingredients are packed full of vitamins (A, C, E), omegas, fatty acids, and humectants (to keep moisture in). Whether you’re looking to balance sebum production, trigger collagen production, soothe inflammation or keep bacteria at bay – nature has the answer.

Rather than providing a quick fix, natural ingredients bring health and balance to the skin, helping to resolve skin issues at the source. By choosing nourishing and hydrating natural ingredients, we support a healthy skin barrier function, which is fundamental to skin health.

Personally, I use our Bright Cleansing Balm‍ daily and over time, my skin has changed from dry and flaky to hydrated and much more resilient.

Where are NOMO products made?

Each NOMO formula was born at my kitchen table in a farm house in Oxfordshire.

The process took me through all seasons, from bright sunshine streaming through the windows, to dark winter afternoons in front of the wood burner, with the sound of cows mooing in the barn. After many iterations, I got to the “just right”.

When we moved from the farm (for a new adventure!), I no longer had the space to create the products myself, so I searched for a company who shared our deep respect and understanding of nature.

NOMO products are now made in Dorset. They source the best natural, organic ingredients, and they infuse our products with the vibrancy that has always been at the heart of NOMO.

How sustainable is NOMO packaging?

We use glass for all our products and minimise using plastic along with any extra, unnecessary packaging. Our delivery boxes are simple brown boxes – no bleach, no ink, just beautiful cardboard which I stamp with our NOMO details.

You can recycle our glassware, although my wish would be for you to reuse it (to give it the best shot at a second life). I love to use the face oil bottles as mini bud vases and the balm pots to store odds and ends (think buttons or seeds for the garden).

The long term plan is to have a refill system. You’ll get a beautiful bottle for life, which you’ll be able to refill with sachets delivered to your home. Keep your ear to the ground for updates on this one.

Are NOMO products 100% natural?

Yes, NOMO products are always 100% natural. There are no synthetics or chemicals in any of our formulas, and never will be. The foundation of our brand is to work with nature and all that it offers.

NOMO products are powered by plant butters, cold pressed oils, active botanicals and specialised oils like moringa, rosehip and seabuckthorn. All our products are fragranced with essential oils – no synthetic fragrances here. Natural fragrances not only deliver an olfactory experience but also therapeutic benefits. Every NOMO fragrance has been specially chosen to support physical, emotional and nervous system health.

Are NOMO products organic?

Where possible, our products are made with organic ingredients, both certified and non-certified. We’re not currently certified organic, as the cost of certification isn’t quite within reach for us as a small, independent business. It’s something we’d love to work towards as we grow.

Are NOMO products suitable for bodywork?

Yes, absolutely. The NOMO Glow Skin Balm was the first product I created, and as a Bodywork practitioner, I formulated it with this in mind. Particularly myofascial release.

The Glow Balm melts on contact to create a glide that helps drop through the layers of the skin to fascial contact, with more grip than an oil. The formula works to meet all skin types and support the nervous system with the essential oil blend.

The NOMO product range is also the foundation for our NOMO 5-Method Facial. Glow Balm, Lip Balm and the Nourish and Refresh Facial oils all play their part in this treatment. Curious? Find out more and book a treatment here.

Do NOMO products expire?

The full NOMO range is waterless, meaning they have a good long life. Industry standard is 18 months, however in my personal experience they’re highly effective for up to two years. Keeping your NOMO products out of the heat and sun will help preserve their potency.
